Letter From the President:

Dear Society Member,

It’s officially June 2017, and another academic year is in the books. As you begin to jump into your summer activities, I want to stress the importance of not losing sight of the bigger picture and continuing to strive toward your goals—whatever those may be.

While many see time off as an excuse to put everything on hold and take a break from it all—don’t! These next few months can be the perfect opportunity for you to tap into your calling and take action toward living out your purpose.

When it comes to the topic of pursuing passion, nobody positions it better than best-selling author of, The Art of Work, Jeff Goins:

“If you have a dream or calling you’re not yet living into, it’s time to get to work:
Declare you are what you’re waiting to be.
Believe in your dream before you see it.
And then do it.
Remember: Until you start living it, you’re only dreaming.”

Once you have determined your passion and purpose— it’s time to start focusing on it! A terrific way to stay focused on your goals during break is to put it into practice. Start by creating a virtual or physical goal board for motivation and fill it with directed imagery that will keep you enthused and reminded of your focus.

The message I want to leave you with this month is to stay attentive on your goals and don’t forget to link the short-term with the-long term. The actions and decisions you make daily have an impact and must lineup with your big-picture vision.

Congratulations on a successful academic year and I hope you have a wonderful start to your summer.

Best wishes,

Charles Knippen

“I am so proud to be here with you and celebrate your achievement tonight,” said Brookdale president Maureen Murphy. “The organization that you are joining is truly, truly a jewel here at Brookdale Community College, and you are going to grow immensely as members of the National Society of Leadership and Success. I congratulate you all.”

Why Summer Is The Best Time To Advance Your Career
By William Arruda, Forbes

It’s that time of year. You and your colleagues are thinking about vacation. Things tend to slow down a bit in the office. Meetings are fewer. Travel decreases. Sure, it’s time for you to use some of those hard-earned vacation days so you can recharge and re-engage. But what are you going to do with the rest of the summer?
