Did you succeed in achieving your action steps since the last meeting? If yes, please state which action steps you were able to complete. If no, please explain the challenges that you experienced. (If first meeting, write ‘first meeting’ here.):
I have partially succeeded in achieving my action steps since the last meeting. I applied to UIC's Online BBA program and was conditionally secured a spot. However, my advisor stated I would have to complete an additional math course that I was missing so I have enrolled in a summer course with hopes of passing to move forward.
Please state your goal using the SMART Method: Specific: Avoid generalities! Your goal should have specific details so you know what you are achieving. Measurable: Make sure you have solid criteria for establishing your progress toward your goal. Actionable: You can clearly define action steps towards your goal Rewarding: Your goal must be something that is meaningful and worthwhile. Time Specific: Having specific dates for beginning and finishing goals keeps you on track. Example: “My goal is to receive a Sports Internship by May 1st”:
My goal is to be accepted to a four year university by July 1st where I will complete my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
Please list the action steps you will take to achieve your goals stated above. These are action steps that will be completed by next meeting. Example: “1. Finish my resume. 2. Talk with my advisor. 3. Submit a sports internship application at two institutions.”:
The action steps that I am taking to achieve my goal are first applying to several schools that offer the online Bachelors program for Business and completing applications for FAFSA and scholarships to reduce my cost of tuition. The second step I have completed towards my goal is signing up for a summer course to complete a missing math requirement that is needed for my transfer. The third step which I plan on accomplishing over the summer is focusing and allowing myself time to successfully pass my Math course over the summer that way my spot will be secured in the BBA program at UIC. The fourth step after passing my summer class will be to accept my offer to UIC and work toward completing my BBA over the next 2 years.
How have the NSLS speakers or SNT meetings helped you achieve your goals or changed your life?:
The NSLS speakers and SNT meetings has helped me achieve my goals my allowing me to know that timing is important. Its ok to allow yourself a different pace from others when it comes to navigating school courses and goals in general. Depending on your life style and work schedules you sometimes have to plan and conquer smaller goals with baby steps, which will lead to your bigger picture.
