Did you succeed in achieving your action steps since the last meeting? If yes, please state which action steps you were able to complete. If no, please explain the challenges that you experienced. (If first meeting, write ‘first meeting’ here.):
No, I could not meet my goal of completing my course. I assumed that the module was short and not a course that had action steps to move forward, initially taking 18-36 weeks to complete. But this is okay; setbacks happen, and I will continue to work toward completion with my actions.
Please state your goal using the SMART Method: Specific: Avoid generalities! Your goal should have specific details so you know what you are achieving. Measurable: Make sure you have solid criteria for establishing your progress toward your goal. Actionable: You can clearly define action steps towards your goal Rewarding: Your goal must be something that is meaningful and worthwhile. Time Specific: Having specific dates for beginning and finishing goals keeps you on track. Example: “My goal is to receive a Sports Internship by May 1st”:
Specific: Establish a nonprofit organization named "Water Safe Guardians" to provide free swimming lessons for children in Brown County, Indiana, funded solely by donations and involving first responders (police, firefighters, ambulance, and hospital personnel) in the program. Measurable: Measure progress by the number of children enrolled in swimming lessons, the amount of donations received, and the level of involvement of first responders in the program. Actionable: Research and register the nonprofit organization with relevant authorities by the end of May. Establish partnerships with local swimming facilities and first responder organizations by June. Launch fundraising campaigns and recruit volunteers for swimming lessons by July. Begin providing free swimming lessons to children in Brown County by August. Rewarding: The goal is rewarding as it directly addresses a critical safety need in the community, providing children with vital swimming skills that can potentially save lives. Additionally, the involvement of first responders fosters community engagement and collaboration. Time Specific: Establish the nonprofit organization "Water Safe Guardians" and provide free swimming lessons by August 31st.
Please list the action steps you will take to achieve your goals stated above. These are action steps that will be completed by next meeting. Example: “1. Finish my resume. 2. Talk with my advisor. 3. Submit a sports internship application at two institutions.”:
1. Research legal requirements and regulations for establishing a Brown County, Texas, nonprofit organization. 2. Identify and contact potential board members or advisors for the organization. 3. Develop a mission statement and organizational structure for "Water Safe Guardians." 4. Register the nonprofit organization with relevant authorities, including filing necessary paperwork and obtaining tax-exempt status. 5. Contact local swimming facilities to discuss partnerships for hosting swimming lessons. 6. Develop a fundraising plan, including strategies for soliciting donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations. 7. Create promotional materials and launch fundraising campaigns to raise initial funds for the organization. 8. Recruit volunteers, including qualified swimming instructors and first responders, to assist with swimming lessons. 9. Develop a curriculum for the swimming lessons, focusing on water safety and basic swimming skills. 10. Set a schedule for the swimming lessons, including dates, times, and locations. 11. Promote the availability of free swimming lessons to families in Brown County through local schools, community centers, and other channels. 12. Prepare the swimming facilities and gather the equipment and materials for the first swimming lessons. 13. Conduct training sessions for volunteers to ensure they are prepared to teach swimming lessons and provide a safe learning environment. 14. Launch the first swimming lessons for children in Brown County, Indiana, on schedule by August 31st.
How have the NSLS speakers or SNT meetings helped you achieve your goals or changed your life?:
Attending NSLS speakers and SNT meetings has truly been a game-changer for me. It's helped me in ways I never imagined, especially in pursuing my dream of starting a non-profit organization. Through NSLS, I've soaked up wisdom on leadership and personal growth, giving me the confidence to dive headfirst into my goals. Plus, SNT meetings have been a godsend, providing crucial advice on the legal and financial aspects of setting up my organization. But beyond the practical stuff, it's the people I've met – the mentors, the fellow dream-chasers – who have really lifted me up. Their support and encouragement have fueled my fire, propelling me closer to making a real difference in my community by offering swim lessons to those who need them most. I will not give up on my future, my goals, and my community. Realizing that with every little piece of help, with NSLS, the board members helping this dream of mine come true, and even myself and my family. My aspirations can become reality.
