Did you succeed in achieving your action steps since the last meeting? If yes, please state which action steps you were able to complete. If no, please explain the challenges that you experienced. (If first meeting, write ‘first meeting’ here.):
Yes, we did succeed in achieving action steps since the last meeting. I work in a public school in the Special Education Department as a 6th grade teacher who teaches ELA (English Language Arts) and Social Studies. Our school has PLC (Professional Learning Communities) meetings for each academic department. I meet with the English Department for my PLC meetings every other day every week. Each week we come together as an English Department to check in with each other to make sure we are all on the same unit in our curriculum called SAAVAS. We are all currently on Unit 1. We are all on different stories which is okay but, as long as we all finish Unit 1 at the same time, then we will accomplish our goal and so far we are on track to do that.
Please state your goal using the SMART Method: Specific: Avoid generalities! Your goal should have specific details so you know what you are achieving. Measurable: Make sure you have solid criteria for establishing your progress toward your goal. Actionable: You can clearly define action steps towards your goal Rewarding: Your goal must be something that is meaningful and worthwhile. Time Specific: Having specific dates for beginning and finishing goals keeps you on track. Example: “My goal is to receive a Sports Internship by May 1st”:
Specific Goal: We will ALL Finish on Unit 3 in the SAVVAS Curriculum by June 21st, 2024 Measurable Goal: Each team member needs to look over their lesson plans to make sure that they are aligned with the curriculum. Actionable Goal: Each team member will reach out to say where they are in the SAVVAS Curriculum. Rewarding: All sixth grade students will be on the same page and learning the same skills and taking the same assessments. Time Specific: The team will meet together again and make sure we are all on pace to finish with Unit 3 in the SAVVAS Curriculum by June 21st, 2024.
Please list the action steps you will take to achieve your goals stated above. These are action steps that will be completed by next meeting. Example: “1. Finish my resume. 2. Talk with my advisor. 3. Submit a sports internship application at two institutions.”:
1. I will bring my lesson plans to the meeting. 2. I will reach out to my colleagues who teach ELA and see where they are in the Unit. 3. I will make room in my schedule to meet again with ELA teachers. 4, I will review the SAVVAS Curriculum before the scheduled meeting. 5. Attend the meeting to make sure we are all working on the same Unit in ELA.
How have the NSLS speakers or SNT meetings helped you achieve your goals or changed your life?:
The NSLS speakers, especially the ones on the broadcast, have helped me create goals that are attainable and to give me a different perspective. If I continue to set little goals, it will eventually lead to accomplishing one of my big goals. The PLC meetings have shown me that when we have a clear avenue of communication that we can accomplish amazing things.

Thank you for your SNT submission. Please note, SNT meetings are intended to be held with a group of other people (or at least 1 other person) and spaced at minimum 1-2 weeks apart. The purpose of this structure is to allow enough time for you to set meaningful goals and action steps and actually make significant and meaningful progress towards these goals and action steps in between meetings. Much more can be done over the course of one to two weeks than the span of one or two days. Unfortunately, your submissions were entered too close together. Since your SNT #2 was reported on March 27th, then SNT #3 cannot occur until at least April 3rd or after. I have to ask that you resubmit the denied entry following our 1-2 week time frame. I look forward to reading about your additional progress! If you have further questions, please let me know.
