1. What were the main points of this speaker's presentation?

-Goals can present themselves at any given time, sometimes you never can imagine the things that you are able to reach.
-Nothing is promised, but that cannot stop you from trying.
-Understand when you are wrong as a leader.
-Rules are created for our own benefit, and it is tough to navigate ideas because of these rules that we feel we cannot bend.
-Finding yourself is more important than finding your place.

2. How will you apply this information in your life?

Play in life and think about the things that could happen from what I am trying to achieve. I need to use the motivation that allowed me to reach the goal I am working on and use that energy as fuel to aim high. I think that Trevor's point where he says that the most important thing a leader can do is understand when they are wrong and look to others for help. This is something I believe is vital to not only a strong leader, but also a strong leader who has a strong relationship with those who are following you as the leader.

3. What did you find most interesting about this speaker?

I have to read his book. Just listening to him reading his book is incredible and it is absolutely intriguing. I desperately want to read and understand how he was raised in another county and culture, because it differs so much from U.S. society. He managed to become a comedian in a society where being mixed was illegal and now has become very successful. This story is absolutely amazing and touching.

4. If you could talk to the speaker, what would you say/ask?

I would want to hear all about what he went through as a child in South Africa. The workings of this county is so different than our culture today. There, having light skin is looked on negatively, it is a reverse racism from what we commonly think racism is in our society today. He stated in the video that it was illegal to be mixed race, or having one parent who is Black and one who is White.

5. Would you recommend this speaker to other students? Why or why not?

I would recommend this speaker to everyone. This is such a powerful story and message, it needs to be heard and shared. Trevor managed to rise above the crime in his war-rampant county and become someone who is successful. His childhood growing up in South Africa was far different than childhood in the U.S. which gave him a unique outlook to his audience who does not share his culture.
